SUBMIT TO SHORTTAKES.
WHAT KIND OF FILM
Films must be no longer than 10 minutes and must have been produced after January 2016 to be eligible. Shorttakes accepts all films in any animation, live-action, or digital media genre.
The submission deadline for the 2017 Shorttakes Festival is April 21st, 2017 ($5 for UCLA students, $10 for non-UCLA students). The first 50 films submitted will have this fee waived.
All students interested in filming on the UCLA campus: before shooting on campus, you MUST get an approved film permit weeks in advance. Please consult the UCLA Events Office website for the necessary student film permits.
Students from other campuses: please refer to your own campus guidelines if filming on campus or any other location that may require a film permit.

HOW TO SUBMIT
**IMPORTANT: all guidelines detailed below must be followed for a film to be considered**
All students entering the festival must:
Register AND provide an accessible YouTube or Vimeo link of their film through Eventbrite
Email a digital .mp4 format to email@example.com OR mail in or drop off a hard copy DVD/USB of their film
Provide the following information when submitting your film:
Student ID number (if UCLA student)
Other Cast Member’s Names
YouTube or Vimeo link & password (if private link)
All students must register and submit a YouTube or Vimeo link of their film through Eventbrite. The first 50 submissions on Eventbrite will have their fee waived. Films not registered through Eventbrite will not be considered.
If providing a private YouTube link, the owner of that link must be able to view the film. If providing a private Vimeo link, please provide the appropriate password. The links are necessary for your films to be viewed by our judging panel. All acquired links and password information will only be shared with the Shorttakes Staff and judges, not with the public.
Following registration, all student filmmakers MUST submit a copy of their short film either in an emailed digital .mp4 format or mailed hard copy DVD/USB.
The film may be mailed to or dropped off at the address listed below. If we are not in the office slide it under the door, promise we will get it!
